Voice Actor Rebecca Haugh leads ’Biz Chat’ with a round-table of VO folks chatting about mostly the business aspects of VO careers. Every Monday except holidays, it’s a working session where we share wins, challenges, and discuss the business side of things for about 40 mins. Topics include personal experiences shared about marketing, invoicing, contracts, CRM, industry events, and social media, challenges, etc. These standard biz chats are not recorded. VO Influencer started in January 2025. On the final Biz Chat Monday of each month, Rebecca hosts a guest VO Influencer to chat about their specialty for about 40 mins, with Q&A from attendees about 10 mins after the start. Hollywood actor Jim Meskimen’s interview continues today. We discuss 3 important topics: The Human Voice, MOCAP and HAIRY FINGERS. Jim deconstructs the human voice from his view as an actor, impressionist and audiobook director and the nuance of isolating key elements to recreate a real person or create a new character. He’s been called “Comedy’s Impressions Genius”. Jim Meskimen is an accomplished actor, improviser and voice artist whose work is well-known to TV and film and gaming audiences. He has worked with director Ron Howard on five of his films including Apollo 13 (1995), How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000) and Frost/Nixon (2008).
